The Legacy

Vaughn Hoehn moved to Sandpoint in 2003 after working as a journeyman in the Tri-cities through the 1990’s. He quickly recognized the need in Bonner County and Boundary County for a skilled refrigeration technician and he began serving the community in this way.

The company expanded into an established Heating and Air company as his team continued to build relationships in the community. Even through the recession in 2008, they managed to keep the doors open and serve the neighborhoods and businesses in the area.

He met his beautiful wife, Lisa, in 2012 and together they prayerfully built a loyal team that is with Cool-It for the long haul. Brian has been with them since 2014, Steve since 2018, Cason, Aidan, and Don coming on 3 years now, and their newest higher, Chuck.

The excellence of service and passion for what they do stems from faith. “There’s no “Cool-It” without God.”, says Mrs. Hoehn.

When asked what their favorite part of the company is, Vaughn said, “Being the hero’s when people in our community need us. It feels amazing when we’re able to come in, have the right parts and skills to do the job, and walk out knowing that a local restaurant didn’t have to throw away any food, or that an elderly lady has heat in the middle of winter. That’s it! Being able to save the day.”

Lisa also added, “We love our employees. They’ve been so loyal. And we love getting to know and love our customers on a personal level.”

As of this year, 2022, the Hoehns have retired and confidently put their company in the hands of a caring and capable general manager who is a local of Coeur d’Alene. Daryl Lillis is eager and committed to continuing in the legacy that Cool-It has become.
